With online proctoring, you get to choose the location you take your exam. There is no need to travel to a testing center or independent proctoring service. This makes becoming a Certified Food Protection Manager simple and convenient.

What is Online Proctoring?

We have received approval from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) to offer online proctoring.

With online proctoring, a remote proctor can supervise exams through a webcam and microphone, allowing you to take your exam at work or from the comfort of your own home.

This means that you no longer need to go to a testing center or have an in-person proctor supervise you while you take your exam. 

Online proctoring is only offered by StateFoodSafety and makes becoming a Certified Food Protection Manager much more convenient, especially if you do not have easy access to testing centers or other testing options.


Is Online Proctoring Approved?

Online proctoring is approved by ANSI and is a valid proctoring service for the ANSI-CFP Food Protection Manager Certification Exam in the United States.

All certificates obtained from StateFoodSafety via online proctoring are valid just as if obtained through traditional proctoring.

StateFoodSafety is the only company in the food safety industry that offers this new, innovative solution.

How does online proctoring work?

Online proctoring is made possible because of our partnership with ProctorU. ProctorU has proctored more than four million online exams worldwide.
ProctorU proctors supervise exams through a webcam and microphone, allowing examinees to take their exam from a location of their choice.


How to take the exam


1. Register

Register for your exam at Online proctoring is offered for all food manager products that include the exam.

2. Complete training

If you need help preparing for the exam, you can complete StateFoodSafety's ANSI-accredited Food Safety Manager Training. If you purchased the exam alone, you can skip this step.

3. Schedule Exam

You can schedule your exam session in advance or start a session as soon as you are ready by logging in to your StateFoodSafety account.

4. Take Exam

A proctor will monitor you via webcam and microphone throughout the exam to ensure the security of the exam. You will have two hours to complete the exam.

5. Print Certificate

Once you have passed the exam,  you will receive an official digital version of your certificate via email that you can print. You can also access your certificate by logging in to your StateFoodSafety account.

Requirements for Online Proctoring

Environmental Requirements

• The testing environment must be private, well lit, and free of any testing aides or distractions like talking or noise.

• The proctor will inspect the workspace and surroundings using a computer webcam and a reflective surface.

• The location must have fast internet.

• A webcam and microphone are required.

• Up-to-date Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox browser

• ProctorU Live + extension for Chrome or Firefox

• Computer or laptop (Windows or Apple)

• Government issued photo ID

*A webcam with microphone can be purchased at Amazon for about 10 dollars.
